You've All Seen This, I'm Sure

You've probably heard about this show on Amazon Prime.  It's a series of 10 half-hour shows about a father who comes out as transgendered to his family.  I have not seen it; reviews (such as this one) have said it portrays the main character in a positive light.

I am updating this because Alice pointed out that I am an idiot and did not mention the name, which makes the jokes at the end kind of pointless.

The show is called "Transparent."

Alas, as I said, it's on Amazon Prime which I do not have.  And it costs $100 to join, which I also do not have.  Actually, I don't consider the other benefits worth the money and I don't want to throw money at Amazon, until they

change some of their current (bullying) policies towards some book publishers.  The first episode is free, and I will watch that.

All episodes were released last weekend.  If anyone binge-watches, I'd be curious to know what you think.

And if it's successful, don't miss next season's rip-off about a sibling who comes out as transgender ("Transistor") or the children and grandchildren who all come out as transgender ("Transcendent").

Veet-Related Humoir

I was wondering why no-one commented on this.  It's because I scheduled it for yesterday and forgot to press the "post" button.

"So Anyway, Meg, What Did You Buy?"

Oh yeah.  House slippers.

Well, I looked at many but most were not in my size.  I had a few options left.

Daniel Green "Nikki"

I liked the Daniel Green "Nikki".  They had only this colour in my size.  Black, chocolate, rust ~ not in 11.  I was tempted, but I wasn't sure about that little rivet pattern on the front.  I mean, I wasn't sure how my wife would react, so I left them in the store.

Minnetonka Kitty Suede Moc

I also liked the Minnetonka Kilty Suede Moc.  I like the fringe, and it kind of related back to my past life regression episode.  I wasn't crazy about the colour (medium grey suede) though.  And even though they had eleven colours, that was the only one in my size.

Daniel Green "Meg"

They had the Daniel Green Meg in gold leather in my size.  But I had two problems with this slipper: one, I didn't think leather slippers would be really comfortable, and two, they are hideous.  But I liked the name :D .

I like the fact that sometimes, women's clothing (and wigs) are named as if they're your friends, instead of your wardrobe.

Minnetonka Cally Slipper

I went with the Minnetonka Cally Slipper.  It's a fairly traditional moccasin, and this is the only colour (cinnamon suede) they had in my size.

But instead of ordering it from Zappos, I went to Amazon where I found it a bit cheaper and if you buy it (or anything else) there by following this link, I get a rupee, or something.  But the real reason I bought it from Amazon is, I bought Meg a couple of other items at the same time.

Six days until the clothing swap.  Eight days until Meg hits the road again.

For Your Viewing Pleasure

There's a new show on the syfy channel called Face Off.  In it, makeup artists take a challenge to do their best work.  One week, the goal was to create aliens.

I haven't watched the show yet, but I've watched the promos, wondering if they were going to get to something I'd enjoy.

Wednesday is it.  The next episode is called "Switched and Hitched."  10 pm Eastern; my vcr (yes, I still use a vcr) is already set up.

Last week, a new show started on the Oprah channel.  It is called Our America.  I happened to see an article about it and I'm not even sure why I read it but the reviewer mentioned that the hostess, Lisa Ling, was going to meet with five transgendered people.  I taped it, but haven't watched it yet.  I just checked the website and it says that the premiere episode was on faith healers and the upcoming episode is the transgender one.  I'll have to try to tape the show again this Tuesday (10 pm Eastern) if last week's wasn't the one I wanted.

I'm probably living in a cave, but I didn't even know Oprah had her own channel.

Finally, Stana, in her wonderful Femulate blog mentioned a movie called "The Extra Man."  She mentioned some trans content, but she hadn't watched the full movie yet.  I commented that it's available for download on Netflix but my kids can see the queue so I wasn't sure I'd take that route.

Amazon has it in their "video on demand" section for $3.99 for a 48 hour rental (direct link here).  Here in the cave, I didn't even know Amazon had a video on demand section!

Now all I need is a couple of quiet hours and some popcorn and I'll be all set.

Hiding in Plain Sight

My youngest son came down to discuss his new computer. We were looking at different websites, and then I suggested Amazon so maybe we could see some reviews.

Then I changed my mind ~ I wasn't sure what sort of books would show up at the top of the Amazon page. I've bought some trans-related books and a "recommended" might be embarrassing.

One bullet dodged.

Then he wanted to see how youtube looked on my new 2048 x 1152 monitor. I was about to open youtube and then reconsidered. That would DEFINITELY show videos that I didn't want him to see! Pretty much all I enjoy there are crossdress or makeup related. I finally decided to google my older son's youtube user name and we went directly to his page.

He noticed I have lots of programs running and lots of firefox tabs open. He's pretty sharp ~ he pointed at one and said "is that Google Analytics"? Yes it was. Google Analytics gives web page information such as how many people visited. I said "yes, it's for the blog I created when I flew across country dressed as a girl".

No, I didn't. I asked a question about the computer parts he wanted and we got back on subject.

I don't like hiding. I don't like closing windows on the computer when I hear someone come down the stairs. Closets are for clothing. And I build a closet around me wherever I go.
