Oh... referencing the Sunday cartoon below: two guys were sitting in the park playing chess.  One said "do you want to make this interesting?"  The other said "sure."  So they stopped playing chess.

Sunday Funnies ~ Arlo and Janis

This strip has been around for over 25 years.  Arlo reminds me a lot of me, except a bit less inhibited.

Here are a few of my favourites:

The Darlings of CIDU

Back in the last millennium, I used to be a daily reader of a website called Comics I Don't Understand.  Bill Bickel is still producing the site, although now it's a blog.

He posts comics he, um, doesn't understand.  Sometimes, other people alert him to inscrutable comics; in the past, sometimes that other people was me.  Sometimes, I would explain (or try to explain) comics posted on the site.

He had a page called the "Arlo and Janis page."  He'd put comics there that he didn't understand but the explanation might not be family suitable.  A&J showed up there the most; hence the name of the page.

If this sounds familiar, I mentioned this about eight months ago, when I featured some Arlo and Janis cartoons.

For old times sake, I explained yesterday's A&J, which Bill had posted on the blog.

Sunday Funnies ~ Wearing Disguises

Not long ago, I talked about hair and glasses as being part of the disguise.

Putting on a wig is a large change.  Taking off my glasses and replacing them with contacts is a minor change.  Unless you're Clark Kent (cartoons 5 and 6).

Arlo needed glasses and ran with it.

Sunday Funnies ~ Arlo and Janis AGAIN

Have I ever mentioned the website commonly known as CIDU?  This is one of the first sites I enjoyed regularly, and I go back to the beginning of the web (even before).  CIDU is Comics I Don't Understand and I was a regular content provider, sometimes submitting comics I just didn't get, sometimes submitting explanations, always laughing.

Anyway, I'm not completely lost here.  CIDU had a section for risque or possibly risque (hey, the point was he didn't get the joke) cartoons called the "Arlo and Janis Page" since Arlo & Janis seemed to show up there more often than anybody else.

I've posted A&J at least a dozen times, but I have a few more.  One was borderline "gender" (ie, Saturday) material.  The last three are a sequence and absolutely great!

I tried.  It didn't work for me.
