Not Sure Yet

It snowed once again in the northern Virginia area.  I don't consider it that urgent to be at my desk so I did a work from home day.  I can do most anything from my house, once I get on the work network.

At the office, I'll call this a "clothes optional" day but that's not how I'm comfortable.  I left on my nightgown (and robe; it was chilly in the apartment) until lunchtime.  I actually put the robe on right before our daily 10am call; I told Charity I needed the robe because "it was a video call" (no it wasn't) ~ and I can't go into work tomorrow and say "I put a robe over my nighie at 10 yesterday and told my wife I needed it because it was a 'video call.'."  Another don't ask/can't tell.

After lunch I decided to put on the teal dress that didn't fit quite right on Valentine's Day.  I tried it with my new slightly smaller forms and the only 38B bra I had in the house.

I'm not sure if I like the look.  I think it's OK, but I'm not 100% sure.  I do know that underwire bra was not the most comfortable one in my collection.

I may have to go shopping: full coverage, no wire, 38B.  I bought a Bali one, in 38C, at the beach last summer.  Too bad there's no Bali outlets nearby.  I think they're my favourites.

Inlets and Outlets, Part I ~ Outlets

After breakfast, we stopped at an outlet mall on the main drag (so to speak).  We did a lot of window shopping and a little real shopping.  We started at one end of the mall and went into most of the clothing stores.

Our first serious stop was at the Hanes store.  Hanes owns Bali, Playtex, Maidenform, Lilyette, Barely There and more.  My favourite bras are from Bali.  My favourite panties are Vanity Fair (not a Hanes product).  There were some great sales.  I was disappointed that the camisoles I loved were not on sale ($17 each!) but a Bali style I'd never seen before was on sale, as were Bali panties.  They had several different styles: hipster, bikini, hi-rise, and others, and a wide variety of colours and patterns.  Panties and bras were discounted more if you bought three of each.  I only needed one bra, but Charity bought two that were on sale as well.  I also bought six panties in three different styles.

To state the obvious, it's much more comfortable shopping for bras and panties en femme.
my new bra.  Alas, not me.

The bra, by the way, has full coverage, only two hooks, and instead of wire a wide band below the breasts.  It is amazingly comfortable.

I also picked up a new Maidenform waist cinch (also on deep discount) to replace my go-to cinch which was starting to fray.

Needless to say, I didn't try any of these on at the store.

Another stop was an Eddie Bauer store where I did try on some clothes.  I didn't find any dressy clothes I liked there but I did decide I could use a pair of Bermuda-length shorts.  I didn't see shorter shorts I liked but I had two pairs of shorts: one, jeans shorts, the rivet that held the button in front fell off; the other, khaki, were tight.  I picked up two replacement shorts (which, as I said, I did try on but did not wear during the trip.)  I consider these passable when I am in non-Meg mode.

I also picked up a passable pair of black slacks which I have worn to work.  They're size S12 (I believe the S refers to "short" which I'm not but they allow for hemming; these are not the first women's pants I bought for work that were S and fit right.  They're also from their "slightly curvy" line.  They make a variety of shapes, for different hip-waist ratios.  They have a "boyfriend" line which I believe makes more sense with my hip-waist ratio but I didn't see any of those.

The 12 was a bit loose but I thought it was tolerable, even though the shorts were 10s.  Wearing the slacks to work I realised I should have gotten a 10 as well.  But I think they look fine, with only one problem: the back pockets are minuscule, fairly useless.

Again, if you're going to be trying on women's clothes, it's better to be a woman while doing so.

Oh....  Breakfast for me means drinking copious amounts of coffee.  That meant a stop at the ladies' room of which there was only one and it had about twelve miles of stalls.  It wasn't very busy but there were enough ladies there that I didn't dawdle to adjust my makeup before leaving.

Needling Civilians

A few days ago, P sent this satellite photo of the rally with a note: "If you look close you can see [male name]'s boobs."

[By the way, the stage is to the right.  The large empty vertical stretch is 7th street.  The stage is on 3rd.  The original permit was to cover the space from 3rd to 7th.  Everything past that street is really overflow.  Just to the right of 7th there are two white tents.  We were 5-10 people "below" the top tent.  If you look close, you can see my boobs. :)  Click to enlarge the picture.]

I followed with: "Are you trying to say I overdid the padding?" and he wrote back "Nope.  They just stand out - as it were."

Well, they were supposed to stand out, so thank you for noticing, P!  Thinking back, I wish I'd played up the role.  Bounce them around or lean close so they'd be in his face, or just occasionally act overtly feminine.  I should have.  I didn't.  Maybe it's better that I didn't.

I wrote "I spent a lot of time trying to figure out the correct size. :)" to which he replied "I would say that all of DC saw that you paid close attenton to detail.  ;-)"

I didn't respond.  I certainly won't mention that I did spend a lot of time trying to figure out the correct size, but I did that over a long period of time.  Or that I have a lot of other bras in different sizes, and several breastforms.  Actually, I was surprised that he never asked what I used for padding or what size the bra was or if I was wearing women's panties as well, or if I'd ever done this before.  I think this is called "denial."

[Another aside ~ the bra I was wearing was a  Bali Passion for Comfort Soft Taupe.  I really like the way this bra looks ~ it adds curves, in my opinion.  I think it makes a difference.  Yes, the link is another "affiliate link".  If you follow it and buy anything from Amazon, I get a shekel.]

So I think that thread's done.  I don't really have an answer to his last comment.  I do reserve the right to think up a comment.  I don't want to let it get too stale though.

But I wasn't going to give up that easily.  In another thread, P wrote that he may come down when it gets warmer.  I wrote back:

Come down in the spring!  I have a new outfit that's perfect for cherry blossom time!

I spent several minutes trying to decide if I should write "lovely new outfit".  I removed the adjective.  I also rejected "I have the perfect dress for..."

Next note from P simply said "hot pants and a halter top?"

So I wrote "There is a limit to how much shaving I will do."

No answer, but this was just yesterday.

I'd like to stop beating around the bush.  I have an urge to write "is there anything you want to know?" or "I really do have an outfit for cherry blossom time" or "the hardest part of the costume was deciding which suit to wear" or "I had to buy the pearls and the right colour makeup.  I had everything else around the house." or "if you don't want to do cherry blossom, I have the perfect dress for a night at The State Theatre."  (In a previous visit, we saw the Dark Star Orchestra at The State.  Yes, P is a deadhead.  I am only a fan.)

It's probably good that we live 400 miles apart and rarely talk on the phone.  I can edit my e-mails and probably preserve a friendship.
