Off My Game

I had a good time at Shear Madness, but I felt I was doing a poor job as a woman and I'm not sure why.  Maybe I was just tired.

When I looked at pictures afterwards, I noticed my wig wasn't on straight.  The padded panty (which I really should have removed before leaving the house) dug in and was uncomfortable to the point where I couldn't really cross my legs or even keep my knees close together, which felt really wrong.  I couldn't keep my voice where I usually do.  I seemed to be walking more unfemininely than normal and even with the awareness I couldn't get it right.

I'm not sure if it was my perception or my presentation.  I need to resolve this and make sure it doesn't happen again.

  1. It can take very little to throw us off our rather precarious balance, just a little discomfort, or a little rush and everything can seem to be wrong, that's one of the reason why we go to such pains t get it right. Your usual standard of presentation is so good that I'm sure that this is a one off.

  2. Meg-

Don't be so hard on yourself! Your posts showed to me that you had a great time! Great place, good performance, nice conversations and help... How about thinking of it as "Fun Happenings, Minor Improvements to Follow" We always are a work in progress - at least I am ;-)

We also can't always be on our 'A' game - as humans and females. It couldn't have been as bad as my Broncos football team the other week.

Hope to visit again some time this summer.

  3. Although I have a hard time following my own advice -- the latest example being when I panicked and thought EVERYONE was reading me after seeing my face in the horrible lighting of an airplane bathroom -- the point is to enjoy oneself.

Besides: we're always our own worst critics, and I'm sure nobody else noticed (I know ... blah, blah, blah).

  4. Know what you mean. Some days it all comes together, others the walk and gestures aren't there, the voice doesn't work, the makeup doesn't stay put, blah blah. You just do the best you can, recover from your missteps, and turn the "giveadammer" off. A bad night out is better than the best night in, right?

  5. It happens to all of us. It seems to happen to me every month, usually for about a week

My bumper Sticker reads a bad day dressed up, is better than a good day not dresses up

No one is as concerned about your appearance as you are. I would get inches from my mirror and worry about a small blemish, thinking everyone is going to notice, then I pull back and see nothing. I realize now that no one gets inches from face.

Also everyone else is busy worrying about their sky falling to worry about you

We all want to look our best at all times. Sometimes you hit a gland slam, sometimes a single, and sometimes you strike out. You don't hit the ball EVERYTIME you swing, but you miss EVERYTIME you don't swing.

    Keep swinging!
