Jim Davis' Garfield has a problem. In my opinion, it suffers from the disease Larson and Watterson avoided: it has gone on too long.
I have probably the first twenty Garfield books. I've shared them with my kids, who enjoyed them.
Garfield used to be funny. That was back in the previous millennium, which is where these cartoons came from.

True, the cartoons were funnier back then but the people were also simpler. How things change! Sadly that change has not happened so much for us MtFs with this educated and civil society. People!
ReplyDeleteOne day, perhaps. But I'm not holding my breath.

ReplyDeleteI agree. I used to include Garfield in my web surfing runs. Not anymore. The author of the strip keeps rehashing on the same old things (as we would in our crafts, when we got to a certain level of expertise). Instead, he should cut back the strip to a weekly - as was done for Bloom County/Outland - to keep things fresh.
