After the play, we went to a nearby restaurant for dinner.
Before the play, my oldest called to ask if I could look at a house he was considering renting. I told
him after 6pm would be OK; he suggested meeting at 6.
I figured, a matinee from 2 to 4 or so, then an early dinner. Back to the apartment to remove clothes, makeup, nail polish, and I'd be ready by 6.
As we sat, waiting for a waitperson to come to the table, I looked at my phone and saw that it was 4:45.
Uh-oh. Dinner until 5:30. Home by 6. Remove all, if I rush, by 6:30, get to the house by 7.... Not gonna work.
So we apologised and left sans food.
I like to stay dressed for a while once I get home, and I was looking forward to dinner out as Meg in the Priorities Of Life, kids come first. I raced home to my apartment, changed, stripped the coat of paint off my fingers, and made it to the house just a few minutes past 6, drab and hungry.

Sorry, but love is a two(2) way street, just my humble opinion and thoughts.
ReplyDeleteI guess it comes with "our" territory
I am the giving tree. :)
DeleteTo be honest, I think you could have just called him back up and say that you were running late, ask if he wanted to wait until (fill in the blank time) or reschedule.

We discussed that; it had to be between 6 and 7.
